Degas adopts regenerative agricultural practices to improve soil health, reduce dependency on agricultural inputs, and remove carbon from the atmosphere. Regenerative agriculture is one of our core approaches to climate smart agriculture, and develop carbon removal programs from our own operations.

Degas works closely with local communities and runs one of the largest regenerative agriculture programs in Sub-Saharan Africa, which implements Conservation Agriculture with smallholder farmers. Our practices include:

We built a Large Language Model (LLM) based advisory chatbot specifically tailored to facilitate our field staff in training farmers to adopt regenerative agricultural practices. We continue gathering data on the ground, analyzing the data using machine learning techniques, and refining our agricultural practices. With the chatbot and our expertise, we also aim to support other players implementing regenerative agricultural practices globally.
